Where do you work?
Currently working for GQA Approved Centre Total Support Training based in Hayes
Tell us about one thing you do away from work
For many years I have followed Rushden and Diamonds, a non-league football club based in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire. The club was formed by a merger of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds in 1992.
How did you get into that?
I used to be one of many coaches working at the club and since leaving that role have followed them as a season ticket holder.
What do you enjoy so much about it?
I just love football!
Pick just one highlight out.
When the Diamonds finally won promotion to the Football League which was soon dashed by going out of business, “a high and a low all rolled into one”
Now for something different
Tony has enjoyed doing ‘something different’ throughout his life and can count escapology as one of his many talents. He has escaped from a strait jacket, whilst hanging from a burning rope 110ft in the air, and has also escaped from a coffin that was screwed down to the bottom of a lake – you could say that he’s the glass industries answer to Harry Houdini!
Tony also spent 3 years in America coaching football, in Texas and New Mexico. He was head coach for a company called Moffatt Soccer Technique working in Albuquerque, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and that most famous of Texan cities, Amarillo; But unfortunately there was no cowboy time riding horses during his time in Texas as he is actually scared of horses.
