GQA Launches Digital CSCS Card Access via ‘My CSCS’ App

New digital access streamlines CSCS card availability for learners and reduces administrative burden for GQA Centres

GQA, the leading Awarding Organisation, is enhancing its CSCS provision by introducing digital CSCS card access through the My CSCS App, giving learners secure, instant access to their CSCS card on their mobile phone. This applies to those applying for new or renewal cards or existing GQA CSCS Q-Card holders with one of the new CSCS Smart cards.

The move supports the construction industry’s shift towards secure, digital-first verification of competence, while maintaining the integrity of the CSCS scheme. The digital card does not replace the physical card – it is an additional version that is automatically issued.

From 26 January 2026, learners achieving a GQA CSCS Q-Card will be able to view their card instantly within the My CSCS App, reducing reliance on physical cards. This enables workers to demonstrate, without delay, that they have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do, helping to improve standards and safety across UK construction.

All digital CSCS cards within the app can be verified through CSCS Smart Check, using a dynamic QR code or via manual entry.

Supporting Industry Efficiency

Digital CSCS cards also provide the benefit of:

  • Reduced risk of lost or delayed cards
  • Improved on-site verification
  • Reduced administration for training providers and employers

The digital card is secure, verifiable and fully aligned with CSCS requirements.

Maintaining Standards and Assurance

The introduction of digital access does not change qualification, testing or eligibility requirements. All CSCS standards remain in place, ensuring that digital cards provide the same level of assurance as physical cards.

GQA is one of 37 members of the CSCS Alliance, a collaborative network working to support consistent standards, innovation and trust across the construction skills system.

Digital, Secure, Accessible

The My CSCS app allows cardholders to carry their CSCS card securely on their phone, helping ensure they can access work opportunities without unnecessary delay.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment between GQA and CSCS to modernise processes while maintaining robust quality assurance for the construction workforce.

Alan O’Neile, Director of Strategy, Compliance and Marketing, CSCS commented: “Giving GQA cardholders access to a secure digital version of their Q-Card in the My CSCS app makes day‑to‑day compliance simpler and faster. Workers can show their card instantly from their phone, and sites can verify it with confidence using Smart Check.

“Just as importantly, My CSCS supports a more joined‑up approach for the wider industry by providing a single place to access cards from both GQA and CSCS, improving consistency and trust across the construction skills system.”

The My CSCS App is available now via Google Play (Android) or via the App Store (Apple).
