This qualification is aimed at those who are use plant equipment and machinery in a construction environment. Because of the wide range of wood occupations, it is not expected that all candidates will carry out the same activities; the qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility.
The qualification has 2 mandatory units with pathways developed to recognise competence and knowledge in the use of specific equipment and machinery in the following groups: Extracting Plant, Excavating Plant, Constructing and Forming Plant, Transporting Loads Plant, Laying and Distributing Plant and Cranes and Specialist Lifting Plant.
All work must be completed following relevant legislation and Industry recognised Safe Working Practices. This qualification is at Level 2, although some units may be at different levels and should be taken by those who are fully trained to deal with a range of tasks and situations. Candidates should require minimum supervision
in carrying out the required work.
